What's happening

Finally finished the Christmas shopping today :D  The only things I've bought for myself are all related to GK building, as you can see in the Future Kits section there are two new kits: The Gundam RX-78 Girl and the Dark Magician Girl.  Who knows when I'll get started on them, I have enough kits to last me a few years.

I still haven't started on Seras Victoria yet, maybe I'll start next week, I'm just taking it easy for a while plus I'll be starting to learn how to draw (manga) anatomy tomorrow.  Anything that looks good will be uploaded to my DeviantArt page.

Friday 29 November 2013

Completely Finished

Well I finished Cerion yesterday and submitted it for the contest there now. My client is the only person that has seen what she looks like (apart from the surprises I made) and judging from her reaction I think she is happy with my work XD. I'm going to take a couple of days to rest then I'm going to learn how to draw anatomy and slowly work on my Seras Victoria kit.

Friday 22 November 2013

All done

I've just uploaded the last of the Cerion WIP photos and that is the last you will see of her until March 2014.

Monday 18 November 2013

Finished.... the painting

So I've finally finished the painting of Cerion and uploaded new photos to the WIP section.  Tomorrow I will be starting on the shading and hopefully she will be completely finished in a few days.

Monday 28 October 2013

Flying through it

So it took me around 2 months to do all the puttying for my commissioned kit and I'l already about a week into painting her.  When I started this kit I wasn't expecting to be finished until around Christmas time but it looks like I'll be finished around mid November.  Of course since this kit is being entered into a competition I won't be able to show her off until the votes have been made (in the end of February). So you will all have a long time to wait to see how well my first custom build kit went, The wait should hopefully be worth it.

New photos of Cerion have been uploaded and as always they can be viewed full size on my deviantart page, link in the links column.

Monday 21 October 2013

I'm back

Sorry for the lack of updates, it started with me just being lazy and then I sold me laptop and was without a laptop for about a week but now I'm back and busy as ever. New WIP photos of Cerion, as always larger images on my DeviantArt page.

Wednesday 9 October 2013

Still working away

Sorry I haven't uploaded photos in a while, I'm still working on Cerion and I am taking photos.  I'm just being a bit lazy at uploading them, will get them up some time this week.

Monday 30 September 2013

Putty putty putty

More photos of Cerion uploaded today, she is slowly looking better and better each day :)

I really need to see where I can get boxes of specific sizes so that I can post Midori as a competition prize plus those wee polystyrene balls so that she (hopefully) doesn't break during transit.

Monday 23 September 2013

Finished

And that is Midori Sugiura finished, photos have been uploaded and for larger photos go to my DeviantArt page. Back to work on the custom build commission tomorrow :D

Sunday 22 September 2013

Last of the WIPs

So I've just uploaded the last of the WIPs for Midori, as always bigger pictures will be available on me DeviantArt page.  All I have left to do is seal her head and the put the rest of the parts together, that will be done tonight and then I'll take photos of the finished kit tomorrow morning.

Tuesday 17 September 2013

More updates

Ok lets see, I'm currently just concentrating on Midori (more photos have been uploaded today, larger photos on my DeviantArt page) so that once she is finished I can spend all my time on Cerion.  She should (hopefully) be finished in a week max.

Oh yes, I've also ordered a new kit as a wee treat to myself, she is the last image on the Future Kits page, Seras Victoria from Hellsing.

I've just applied for AdSense, just have to wait to see if I've been successful and can bring in a few pennies.

I think that's everything so I'll leave it there :)

Wednesday 11 September 2013

Updates

Well I'm still working away on these two kits, usually about 5+ hours a day. Updated photos are in the WIPs/Gallery section. If you want to see larger photos then go to my deviant art page here.

Sunday 1 September 2013

I'm lovin' it

So yesterday I begun some real work on Cerion and I am LOVING working on her, I'm just having so much fun, the pinning is all done and a bit of puttying.

Today is all about getting her ready for the customising part.  I just have to sand a few bits of excess resin, most of it doesn't have to be perfect as I will be covering it with putty and fill in some gaps.  I also have to give her a breast reduction and heat bend a sword so it looks more like a katana.

And now, back to work :)

Monday 26 August 2013

I'll be back

Sorry about the lack of updates in regards to Midori or my commissioned kit (which was delivered last week).  I haven't done any work in a while as I've been "dealing" with some things and just haven't been in the mood to do any work or much else for that matter.  I'm going to try to get back to work in a few days, I need to get back into it to keep my mind too occupied to think about other things.

Thursday 15 August 2013

Hopefully tomorrow

So I said that I would probably start working on Midori yesterday, well that didn't happen... and I didn't start today either.  I have been otherwise occupied the last 2 days and too tired when I got home to do any work.  Tomorrow I will definitely not be otherwise occupied as I have some important things to do so I should definitely at least get some work done.

Tuesday 13 August 2013

It begins... tomorrow... maybe

I spent so much tme trying to figure out this sideshow business that I forgot about this post. Well I will be starting work on Midori very soon.  I'm going to be working on 2 kits at the same time, my commission/2014 competition entry and Midori. Just want to see if I can work on 2 at the same time and if I have the room for it. Already did the oxi cleaning of Midori and Selvaria Bles is in "internal processing". Really need to get some white primer, it takes so bloody long coating the grey in white paint.

Maintenance Completed (for now)

I originally set up the galleries with picasa webs but they weren't ios compatible so I let http://www.slidemypics.com/ have access to the photos and it did a nice job of it.

Maintenance

Trying to do a bit of maintenance to the blog so that it uses less pages since I've already gone up to the max.  Pictures may disappear for a while.

eBay win

So a few days ago I saw a resin kit on eBay that I just had to have, Midori Sugiura from Mai-HiME.  This was the kit that first got me into building resin kits.  The kit wasn't in perfect shape, but there wasn't anything major wrong with it and for the amount I paid, it was all good.  I won't be keeping the kit once it had been painted, I will be giving it away as a prize for one of the Mai-Multiverse competitions.  I'm planning on working on it while I'm working on my commissioned kit though the commissioned kit will get priority.

Tuesday 30 July 2013

1st Commission

I have now gotten my first commission :D  This will not simply be building a kit for a customer, I will be modifying the kit so that it looks like their original character drawing.  Should be interesting and definitely a challenge, but one I can't wait to start.

Friday 26 July 2013

Bugger

Well mandarake emailed me and unfortunately the kit was not in stock so I will just have to keep an eye out for when a nice 舞-HiME resin kit comes in stock.  There's a nice èˆž-Otome kit of Nina Wang on E2046 but I'd be afraid of it breaking during transit once it's built.

Wednesday 24 July 2013

Original

I just ordered my first original resin kit today "Haruka Suzushiro" from Mai-HiME.  She was on mandarake for a very low price.  It says on the site that item stock status may not always be up to date, I'm really hoping she is is stock as a year ago I said to a friend that I would build a kit to give away as a contest prize.  I originally wanted to give away a Natsuki Kuga kit but after a year of waiting the damn thing is still not in stock on the site where I've always gotten my kits from (E2046).

Selling some stuff

So I'm selling some stuff on eBay that I never use, mostly games and DVDs but I'm also selling an unpainted resin kit, a 1/8 Fatima Belkut from Five Star Stories. I won it ages ago and it's not really my kind of kit so I thought I might as well sell it rather than have it just take up space and gather dust.

What happened, what will happen

So I just checked how long I had been working on Kanu and was surprised that it was only 2 months and 9 days, that includes the week in which I was doing nothing while I waited for paint thinner to arrive.  Guess that's what happens when you don't have much of a social life.

So I will be entering a gk contest and the submission date in late Januray, I'm probably going to build one of my smaller kits because I simply do not have the room for many more kits.  I really should check out the ikea site to get the dimensions for those glass display cases.

Just after checking the site, they don't actually give the sizes for each compartment but after doing a bit of maths the compartments look to be a couple of centimetres smaller than my largest kits, the largest that I've built so far is my Yoko kit, it says 31cm on the blog and on the site I bought her from but including the base and the gun, she is more like 42cm tall.  Guess I'll have to try eBay.

Saturday 20 July 2013

Kanu is finished

She was a bit of a pain to build but I love how she looks, despite the faults.

Friday 19 July 2013

Building time tomorrow

Well here is the diorama painted, I just have to seal the paint tomorrow and then I can start putting Kanu together :)

Wednesday 17 July 2013

MOAR PICTURES!!!

Some cracks appeared on the tree stump, the ones that go through the rings I actually liked so I kept them and just fixed the ones on the side.

Just checking to make sure Kanu fits ok.

And that is my diorama built, hopefully I won't have any more cracks to fix tomorrow and I'll start painting it on Friday.

Monday 15 July 2013

Diorama time

Honestly I have no idea what I'm doing now, I'm just doing what feels right.  So first I glued a load of brass rods into the wooden base so that the clay has something to grip onto rather than just sitting on top of the base.  I then started putting on the putty within the outline on the first pic.  I had originally used too much so I used some tooth floss to remove the excess.  Once I had smoothed the top with one of my clay modelling tool things I roughed up the sides of the tree trunk to make it look more like bark and then created the rings on the top.

I've no idea how long it takes for this stuff to dry so I'll just leave it for a day or two and then start on the cracked earth.

Sunday 14 July 2013

Finished (painting Kanu)

AND that is me finished painting Kanu, just have to seal her head and the cloak and then I'll get to work on the diorama.

Friday 12 July 2013

Woo Hoo

SWEET! It actually worked, it takes a couple of coats hand painting the lines but I'm very pleased with the results.  I should be finished painting Kanu in 4 days and then I'll get started on the diorama which (hopefully) won't take longer than a week.

Wednesday 10 July 2013

Oops

I had forgotten all about Kanu's cloak.  I had to finish the re-priming yesterday and today I started working on the lines.  I'm hand painting them grey first so that the magenta will (hopefully) be the same shade as it is for the rest of the clothing, which was primed grey rather than white.  I don't know yet whether I will be masking the lines to paint with my airbrush or just hand painting the magenta.

Monday 8 July 2013

So close

So close to finishing her, just have a few more coats of paint touch ups for her boobs, her eyes (doesn't she look pissed) and her earring.  Still have to create the diorama, no idea how long that's going to take.

Sunday 7 July 2013

Masking

Well I did the masking today and thankfully no paint got ripped off though there was some paint that seeped through the tape onto Kanu's skin.  Hopefully I can fix that by hand rather than having to do more masking.

Saturday 6 July 2013

Shading

And the skin has been shaded and sealed.  Tomorrow I think I'll do some masking and paint her boob wraps and socks.

Friday 5 July 2013

Give me some skin

And the skin is finally painted, it looks very light in the photo since it was taken with my iPod and I just used some basic editing in photoshop to lighten the photo, plus I haven't done the shading yet.  The shading will be done tomorrow and the skin will look fabulous.

Wednesday 3 July 2013

First post

Here it is, my first blog. The site isn't quite finished yet, I still have to create my logo and re-learn how to do some things (I haven't done any sort of web design in about 10 years).  Hopefully I will be posting updates regularly.
